Chicago Freight Car… moving beyond traditional borders to be a premier provider of rail industry solutions in International Markets

The North America rail freight network is the most effective service network of its kind in the world. First developed and managed by private enterprise over 150 years ago, the capabilities of the carriers and service providers are now sought around the globe as formerly government-run rail networks are being privatized.

Recognizing this opportunity, Chicago Freight Car successfully leveraged our North American expertise by forming and growing Sydney, Australia headquartered CFCL Australia Pty. Established in 1998, they provide locomotive power and rolling stock leasing services to Australian rail shippers.

CFCL Australia currently owns and manages over $200 million of rail assets under lease to Australian customers. This includes modern locomotives, container flats, ballast wagons, grain hoppers, perway equipment and ore hoppers. New vehicles include 63' and 83' container wagons and twin pack ore hoppers.

We continue to explore opportunities in other geographic markets, including supply of new equipment, modification of existing equipment, and fleet maintenance and management services.
